A native of South Carolina, Jay Browne discovered his love of photography while living in the beauty of Hawaii. While honing his skills with a camera, Jay also enjoyed drumming and golf.
Jay’s first position as a professional photographer was with the South Carolina Forestry Commission. In 1990, Jay opened up his photography studio, specializing in portraiture, fine arts, architecture, interiors, and weddings.
A master of long lenses, Jay’s favorite subjects are birds, trees, water, weather, landscapes, and cityscapes. You will see his talents viewing his photographs on Shimmer.
Jay loves to chase light, searching for subjects in the outdoors to create a dynamic photo. “Technique should be a given, to me, timing is paramount in capturing the most powerful image”
Jay’s images have been published in National Geographic Magazine, Sierra Club Calendars, Columbia Living Magazine, and the book-Columbia City of Rivers, Vista and Dreams. He resides in Columbia with his cat Turbo.
